At the beginning of the spring semester over twenty Carnegie Mellon students traveled to Gilmary Retreat Center in Moon Township, PA to spend a weekend in Retreat. Upon arriving in the evening, the retreatants played icebreaker games led by the Focus missionaries. They then entered into silence that lasted until dinner the next day. While the games allowed time for the students to bond as a community, the silence the allowed time for mental prayer and reflection, confession, time spent with Our Lord in the chapel, and time to meet with the priest. Students felt that the retreat provided a respite from the busyness of the life of a college student, and helped them come to know the Lord and draw nearer to Him. Silence was broken at dinner and the retreat was concluded with Sunday mass. Students returned to campus refreshed, renewed, and refocused on the Lord.
